Itinerary
Day 1: ARRIVAL – BUDAPEST
Arrival in the beautiful city of Budapest. Hotel check-in and free time at your disposal.
Overnight stay.
Day 2: BUDAPEST – CITY TOUR
Breakfast and then we’ll begin our tour at the impressive Heroes’ Square with the
Millennium Monument, where we will learn about the country’s history. We will then visit
the Cathedral of St. Stephen, Democracy Avenue with the Opera and its well-preserved
buildings, the imposing Baroque-style Parliament, and the bridges connecting Buda and
Pest. Next, we will head to Buda to admire the Castle, the Statue of Liberty, the National
Gallery, Fisherman’s Bastion, and the historic Church of St. Matthias (where Hungarian
kings were crowned). Then, we ascend Gellért Hill to enjoy a panoramic view of Buda and
Pest with the Danube in between. The afternoon is free for shopping at affordable prices or
visiting the zoo. In the evening, optional dinner at a local tavern with gypsy violins and
traditional food. Overnight stay.
Day 3: BUDAPEST – DANUBE BEND VILLAGES – PRAGUE (530 km)
Breakfast and departure for the “City of a Hundred Spires,” Prague. Our first stop is
Szentendre, with its medieval atmosphere, a small 18th-century Orthodox church, and
narrow cobbled streets. We continue toward Prague, passing near Esztergom, Hungary’s
first capital, and Visegrád, the old royal seat. Arrival in Prague, hotel check-in, dinner, and
overnight stay.
Day 4: PRAGUE – CITY TOUR – KARLOVY VARY (140 km)
Breakfast followed by a guided tour of Europe’s most important architectural monument in
the Lesser Town (Malá Strana) and the Old Town. We’ll walk from the Gothic Charles Bridge
(14th century), adorned with 37 statues of saints and flanked by two Gothic towers, to the
Old Town Square with the Town Hall, the famous Astronomical Clock, and the arched
palaces. We will visit the Castle District (Hradčany), Prague’s Acropolis — a city within a city.
Among other sights, we’ll see the Strahov Monastery, Loreto, the Gothic Cathedral of St.
Vitus, the Powder Tower, the Jewish Quarter (Ghetto), the Alchemists’ miniatures, the
former royal residence of the Bohemian kings, and finally Daliborka Tower, enjoying a
panoramic view of this fairytale city.
At noon, we will embark on a lovely cruise on the Vltava River. Then, departure for Karlovy
Vary in Western Bohemia. After a beautiful drive, we arrive at this famous spa town, a
meeting point for intellectuals, artists, and politicians. Walking along the central pedestrian
street beside the Teplá River, you’ll understand why Czars Peter the Great and Nicholas II,
Goethe, Liszt, Beethoven, Bach, and Chopin all once walked here. Return to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: PRAGUE – DRESDEN (150 km)
Breakfast and departure for Dresden, the “Florence of Germany.” The Elbe River divides the
city into two parts: the old and the new town. This distinction is less relevant today after
the devastating bombings of 1945, which altered the city’s entire layout in a single night.
Nevertheless, Dresden remains rich in monuments with a great artistic and cultural
tradition. Our tour will include the magnificent architectural complex “Zwinger,” part of the
17th-century princely residence, a luxurious Baroque building designed by Mathias
Pöppelmann. We will also visit Theater Square with the Opera House and the Court CatholicChurch, a true architectural gem by Italian Gaetano Chiaveri. Time for exploration and
return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: PRAGUE – VIENNA – CITY TOUR (260 km)
Breakfast and departure for Vienna. Upon arrival, we begin our sightseeing tour of the
Baroque city of music and waltz. We will see the Ringstrasse with its beautiful park, the
Opera House, Hofburg Palace, the Parliament, the City Hall, and the Theater. Optionally
(€30 per person including entrance and guide), we will visit the summer palace of Maria
Theresa — the magnificent Schönbrunn with its 1,400 rooms. In the afternoon, we’ll stroll
along Kärntnerstrasse to admire the grand St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Visit the shops of
Mariahilferstrasse or enjoy Viennese coffee at the famous Café Sacher. In the evening,
optional dinner at a local tavern in Grinzing.
